InforMD was established in 2016 by scientists, screening experts and community members. InforMD works to improve the detection and prevention of breast cancer through providing up-to-date and accurate information about breast density.

InforMD remembers Professor John Hopper
John was a member of InforMD and a researcher dedicated to understanding the basis of breast cancer and improving early detection.
Our Aims
Educate the community about breast density and promote information about reducing the risk of breast cancer and detecting it early.
Provide information about breast density to health professionals to support their conversations with patients.
Promote an evidence-based conversation between government, healthcare professionals, community members and scientists to improve breast health.
Circulate scientific information about discoveries in breast density to a wide audience.
InforMD is proud to collaborate with the Australian Breast Density Consumer Advisory Council, established in 2019. The Advisory Council provides a community and consumer perspective on research activities and priorities along with advice and support on research grant applications.
The Advisory Council provides or facilitates:
Consumer and community perspectives on research activities across Australian institutions interested in breast density and breast cancer screening
Advice and support on research grant applications and plain language summaries
Links between consumers, the community, researchers and other relevant stakeholders across Australia.
Advice and expertise on consumer and community issues and priorities for research
Dissemination of research to consumers and the community where appropriate
Input into the development of strategies to inform the wider community about research associated with the group
Any other relevant tasks as required
